West Siberian Laika is a hunting dog, originating in Ural and West Siberia. Laika means the dog that barks (from Russian language). This is a wonderful companion for a hiking trip. West Siberian Laika is used by Mansi and Hanty people as hunting dog and alarm dog. Being a good shepherd for reindeers, hunting is still priority for West Siberian Laika. Good hunting dogs are never used to pull sleds. Still, such an active dog needs good equipment for training and walking.
